Manila - Qna

Eighty-seven people were killed as two typhoons simultaneously devastated the Philippines at opposite ends in the span of a week, disaster officials and weathermen said. They added that rains would continue until Saturday with the arrival of another storm from the north. Typhoon Muija remained stationed on the country''s eastern seaboard, said undersecretary Benito Ramos, head of coordinating agency, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. Meanwhile, typhoon Nock-ten made landfall in northern Luzon before leaving for the South China Sea on the west on Saturday. Fatalities in the two typhoons were 87 in total, Ramos said, adding the figure was expected to rise. About 21 storms hit the Philippines every year from June to October.
