Macao's population increases by 0.35 % in Q3

The population of Macao reached 560,100 till Sept. 30 this year, an increase of 2,000, or 0.35 percent from the end of June, Macao's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) said Thursday. According to the DSEC's data, in the third quarter of this year, there were 1,473 live births, up by 8.9 percent quarter-to- quarter. There were 1,011 cases of notifiable diseases reported in this quarter, consisting mainly of enterovirus infection (369 cases), influenza (236 cases) and tuberculosis of lung (86 cases). A total of 847 cases of marriage registration were recorded, up by 8.7 percent over the second quarter of 2011. According to the DSEC, the total number of non-resident workers stood at 89,896 at the end of the third quarter, up by 4,623 quarter-to-quarter.
