Liberia's Tubman : Police shooting was assassination bid

Liberia's Winston Tubman has accused President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf's security forces of trying to assassinate him when they opened fire on an opposition rally on the eve of Tuesday's run-off polls. "I was getting out of the car, a young man pushed me back and ... a bullet that we believe was aimed at me by a sniper hit him instead of me, and he died. I am of the belief that they (police) were acting under orders, and those orders indicated they were ordered to eliminate me," Tubman told journalists in an interview.
