Islamabad - Arab Today

The death toll of a suicide bombing attack in a park in Lahore, Pakistan, where families were celebrating Easter, has risen to at least 72 people, with children among the dead, Geo news reported.

More than 300 people were hurt when explosives packed with ball bearings ripped through crowds near a children's play area in the park in Lahore, leaving dozens dead or bloodied.

Senior police official Haider Ashraf put the toll at 72 on Monday, saying at least eight children were among the dead.

The Pakistani Taliban though has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it had targeted Christians.

"We can't say anything about the claim of responsibility until a complete investigation,"senior police official Haider Ashraf added.
