Kurdish group claims Bursa bombing attack

A Kurdish group on Sunday claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing attack that injured 13 people days earlier in Turkey's northwestern city of Bursa, Turkish media reported.

The Kurdistan Freedom Hawks (TAK), a Kurdish militant group linked to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), said the Bursa attack was carried out by one of its female militant named Eser Cali, the Hurriyet daily said.

The female bomber blew herself up on Wednesday near a mosque in central Bursa, killing herself and injuring 13 others. Hurriyet said she detonated the explosive before reaching her target.

TAK had previously claimed responsibilities for two suicide bombing attacks that hit Turkey's capital Ankara in February and March respectively, killing a total of 66 people.

Turkish security forces and the PKK resumed fighting in July last year in the country's southeast after shattering a two-year peace process.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
