New Delhi - Arab Today

At least 20 people were killed and dozens injured on Saturday in a gas cylinder explosion at a restaurant in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, according to local media.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blast, the International Business Times reported.

The blast reportedly took place at the Sethiya restaurant in Petlawad area of Jhabua town, about 200 miles west of state capital Bhopal. Explosives for making fireworks were allegedly stored in the restaurant, NDTV, a local news network reported, citing police sources.

Some local media reported the death toll at 35, with over 100 were injured. However, the number of casualties has not been confirmed by authorities.

Photos of the explosion site were posted on social media.
