
Severe storm in the Netherlands killed one woman in Amsterdam on Monday and severely disrupted public transport throughout the country. Dutch media reports said strong gusts of wind of over 100 km/h caused considerable damage in the capital, where dozens of trees were uprooted, leading the fire brigade to urge people to stay indoors. One women was killed after she was hit by a tree while out walking. Another man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Dozens of flights to and from Amsterdams Schiphol airport were cancelled. Train services to and from Amsterdam were disrupted and the city's tram services were shut down because of damage to the overhead cables. Rail services will be disrupted tomorrow as well as repair work continue on the damage caused by the storm
