Fire breaks out at Istanbul hotel

A fire erupted on the ground floor of a hotel under construction in the Gulsuyu neighborhood of Istanbul's Maltepe district at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Although the reason for the fire was not immediately clear, witnesses claim that they heard an explosion before seeing the fire, Today’s Zaman newspaper reported.
According to a Cihan news agency report, a number of workers were stranded in the hotel due to the blaze. Fire, medical and police teams have been dispatched to the area.
