Bangkok - Itar-Tass

The death toll from the ferry wreck in the Philippines has risen to 28, and 217 are still missing, the coast guard reported. The navy and the coast guard with support of crews of several cargo vessels continue the search operation. The number of missing people is still considerable, guard chief Luis Tuason said. The accident occurred on Friday. The ferry collided with a cargo vessel about a kilometre off the coast in the central Philippines and sank. The captain ordered the passengers and the crew to leave the ferry. The cargo vessel remained afloat after the collision. As was reported, none of its 36 crew members was hurt.
