Ecuador earthquake death toll surges to 480
Quito - Arab Today
The death toll from the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Ecuador on Saturday rose to 480 people, the BBC reported Wednesday.
More than 4,000 were injured and 231 missing in the quake.
Thousands of people were left homeless, making them vulnerable to dirty drinking water and disease.
The World Food Programme and Oxfam are sending supplies, while the UN said it was preparing a "major airlift".
