
The death toll in multiple pileups that happened on Tuesday on an expressway in southwest China's Chongqing has risen to 16 after a passenger died in hospital on Friday. Hospital sources said that five of 55 people injured in the accidents remained in critical condition. Fifteen people died at the scene of the accident on Tuesday morning after a truck hit on an overturned coach, causing vehicles behind to pile up at a section of the Baotou-Maoming Expressway. Police said the expressway section was affected by drizzle and fog. The coach driver lost control of the vehicle which led it to overturn at a curve of the road.
