A deadly shootout at Mexico City's main airport has killed three Mexican policemen who were on a mission to catch the two suspects involved in drug trafficking. The suspects opened fire in a food court, killing two officers immediately and injuring a third who later died of his wounds.
The two suspects escaped and are being sought by the authorities. Officials said they had spent 18 months investigating corrupt federal and local officials who they suspect are part of a cocaine trafficking ring operating at the airport. The area was sealed off immediately after the incident but flights were reported to be operating normally in and out of the airport.
