
The crime rate in Kuwait has decreased by 14.3 percent in the past six months, with a total drop of 1,646 cases recorded between the months of January and June of 2013, according to the Ministry of Interior's latest statistics. Director of Public Relations and Moral guidance Lieutenant Colonel Adel Al-Hashash said in a press statement, Saturday, that 9,845 crimes were recorded from January to June 2013, compared to 11,491 cases that were registered in the same period of 2012; a decrease of 1,646 cases i.e. 14,3 percent. Al-Hashash, who is also acting director of security media at the ministry, said that the latest statistics show that during the first six months of 2013 crime rate was low in all of the country's governorates, compared to the crime rate of the same period last year. Highest crime rates were seen in Farwaniya, Hawalli and Ahmadi governorates, respectively, he said. He went on saying that the statistics also show a drop in all crime categories this year: financial crimes, murder, defamation and public security, correspondingly.
