Antananarivo - XINHUA

A Chinese national died after swimming in a river in Vatomandry, 256 kilometers northeast of Antananarivo, Madagascar's capital, the communication service of the national police said Tuesday. "Two Chinese swam in a river in a village in Vatomandry. One of them was swept away by the river Thursday last week around 3: 00am," the director of media communication service under the national police Alexandre Ranaivoson told Xinhua. The body was found Saturday, two days after drowning by local people, Alexandre Ranaivoson said. The police added that the body is still in Vatomandry where the Chinese worked. Chinese embassy to Madagascar also confirmed the death of the victim to Xinhua, adding that they are helping the relatives of the victim with necessary documents and related procedures.
