Wuhan - Xinhua

Authorities in central China's Hubei province said on Sunday that seven people have been confirmed dead and another four are still missing, three days after their boat capsized in the neighboring province of Hunan. A Hubei-registered sand carrier, with 17 people on board, capsized and sank on Thursday in high winds in a tributary of Dongting Lake, China's second-largest freshwater lake, in Hunan. Only six people have been rescued since the tragedy occurred, said a statement released Sunday by the government of Jinzhou, a city in Hubei. The 1,500-tonne boat belonged to a maritime company registered in Jianli county of Jinzhou. The dead included the captain, his wife and their eight-year-old daughter.
