At least one person was killed and 14 others wounded in a blast in Karachi city of southern Pakistan on Saturday night, said officials.
According to initial police reports, the explosion occurred near a food stall in Orangi No. 12 area of the city.
A senior police official, SSP West Azfar Mahesar in a statement to media said, "though the blast seems to be of low intensity, the street was crowded at the time of incident, which caused injuries to more people than it should have." The injured were shifted to the nearby hospital where the officials said that most of the injured persons did not suffer critical wounds. The medico-legal officer at the hospital confirmed that fifteen people had been brought to the hospital including a dead person.
The blast in the city happened days after Rangers personnel raided آ‘Nine Zeroآ’; headquarter of the second largest political party in the province Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM), arresting around 27 people.
