A man who allegedly injected beverages at convenience stores with poison, killing one person, in Guangdong Province, south China, has been arrested by police.
The suspect, Guan, 44, had spiked cartons of herbal tea with poison, a Dongguan City public security bureau spokesperson said on Friday.
Guan was arrested at a factory dorm at around 2 a.m. Friday. He told to police that his actions were a way of "taking revenge on society".
Four people are currently in intensive care after drinking the contaminated tea. One died despite medical efforts, according to the spokesperson.
Among those hospitalized, two complained of dizziness, nausea and involuntary spasms on Thursday afternoon. The other two complained of similar symptoms later that night.
Stores will remove the herbal tea from their shelves.
