Australian Transport Minister: Plane debris 'almost certainly' from MH370
Canberra - Arab Today

Plane debris found washed up on the coast of Mozambique "almost certainly" came from Malaysia Airlines' ill-fated flight MH370, the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Australia's Transport Minister Darren Chester as saying on Thursday.

Just over two years after the passenger jet disappeared, analysis of two pieces of debris by the investigation team for MH370 had found that both were consistent with panels from a Malaysia Airlines' Boeing 777.

American Blaine Gibson found a piece of horizontal stabiliser skin, a part of an aircraft's tail, while scouring the coast of the African country at the beginning of the month.

And South African teenager Liam Lotter found another piece in December.

"The analysis has concluded the debris is almost certainly from MH370," Chester said in a statement on Thursday.

"That such debris has been found on the east coast of Africa is consistent with drift modelling performed by CSIRO, and further affirms our search efforts in the southern Indian Ocean."
