Johannesburg - XINHUA

At least seven people were dead as two vehicles they were travelling in collided in South Africa on Friday, said police. A minibus taxis lost its control and crashed into the other vehicle as it was travelling in the eastern province of Mpumalanga on Friday morning, claiming the lives of its five passengers and two others in the other vehicle, said police. Seven passengers were seriously injured in the fatal road accident, and they were receiving treatment at a hospital. Expressing the sadness over the casualties, the provincial community safety department spokesperson Moeti Mmusi said "too many lives are being lost on the roads." On behalf of the provincial government, he extended his condolences to the families of those who were killed in the deadly accident, hoping that those injured people could recover speedily. He also urged all drivers to operate cautiously and responsibly as they are driving on the roads in the province. In the recent years, fatal road traffic accidents have become one of the biggest killers in South Africa.
