At least six people died and 27 more were injured when a bus crashed head-on with a truck on Sunday in Peru's western Lima region, local police said. The accident occurred on the Central Highway, near Carachacra town in Huarochiri province, east of Peru's capital city at Sunday noon. According to the Peruvian Highway Police (Polcar), the bus tried to pass another vehicle, but ended up swerving into the contrary lane and hit the truck from the opposite direction. Some 40 passengers were aboard the bus, which was running on the edge of a 100-meter ravine. Rescue units from the police and the fire brigade arrived at the site to help recover the bodies from the van, which was totally destroyed.
