A total of 18 armed militants have been killed during series of operations across the conflict-hit Afghanistan over the past 24 hours, Interior Ministry said in a statement released here on Tuesday.

The operations, according to the statement have covered parts of Helmand, Logar, Nangarhar and Kunar provinces during which 10 more militants sustained injuries and three others made captive.

However, the statement didn't mention the possible casualties of security forces over the past 24 hours.

Taliban militants are yet to comment on the subject.

Afghanistan has been suffering from increasing militancy over the past more than a decade.
