
Two border guards of India's Border Security Force were killed and two others wounded Friday after a mortar shell exploded prematurely during a training exercise in northern state of Rajasthan, officials said.
The blast took place inside Kishangarh field firing range in frontier Jaisalmer district, about 555 km west of Jaipur city, the capital of Rajasthan.
"During routine exercise in Kishangarh field firing range, 81 mm mortar shell exploded following which two BSF personnel were killed and two others wounded," an official said.
A senior BSF official Ravi Gandhi told India's official broadcaster- All India Radio the blast occurred due to some technical failure.
Reports said the two wounded border guards were air lifted to hospital in Jodhpur where they are undergoing treatment.
The BSF officials have ordered an inquiry into the explosion. Enditem
