NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg
Kabul - Arab Today

At least five personnel of the NATO-led Resolute Support (RS) mission lost their lives in a helicopter crash in the capital Kabul Monday.

A statement by the alliance said “A coalition helicopter assigned to the Resolute Support Mission crashed due to a non-hostile incident on October 11 at approximately 4:15 p.m. at Camp Resolute Support, Kabul, Afghanistan”, according to Khaama News Agency on Monday.

The statement further added “The incident resulted in the death of five Resolute Support personnel and the injury of five others.”

No details were given regarding the identities of the deceased personnel, saying “It is Resolute Support policy to defer casualty identification to the relevant national authority.”

The statement also added that the incident is currently under investigation and additional information would be released in due time.

This comes as 11 people lost their lives in a crash of a US military transport aircraft at an airport in eastern Afghanistan earlier this month.
