At least three security personnel were killed and another injured in a terror attack on a check post in Pakistan's southwestern province of Balochistan on Sunday, local media reported.

According to the reports, the incident took place when a group of militants armed with automatic weapons stormed a check post of the Frontier Constabulary (FC), a paramilitary force, in the Qilla Kurd area of Quetta, capital of the province.

The FC personnel responded the attack and killed two of the attackers while their other companions managed to flee the site.

Security forces and police rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and injured to the Combined Military Hospital in Quetta.

Security forces and police have cordoned off the area and have launched a search operation to arrest the attackers.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

On Friday, at least 440 militants including their commanders laid down their weapons before the authorities at a ceremony in Quetta and promised to spend a normal life.

The provincial government forgave their crimes and promised to compensate such militants with a cash award of 5,000 to 15,000 U.S. dollars in condition if they adopt the life of a common man.
