Three individuals suspected of supporting terrorist groups were arrested in Boumerdes and Bordj Bou Arreridj, the Algerian Ministry of National Defense said Friday in a statement carried by the official APS news agency.
"As part of the fight against terrorism, combined detachments arrested, on 5 May 2016, three individuals supporting terrorist groups in Boumerdes (1st military region) and Bordj Bou Arreridj (5th military region)," the statement read.
"Another detachment of the People’s National Army discovered and destroyed in Skikda (5th military region), a shelter for terrorists, three (03) handmade canons, 4.2 kilograms of explosive materials and other objects.
"As part of the fight against organized crime, a combined detachment seized in Beni Ounif (Bechar)/ 3rd military region, on 6 May 2016, ten (10) quintals of cannabis," it added.
