Some two people were injured after a suicide bomber targeted a two-vehicle foreign convoy in Afghan capital on Tuesday, police said.

"One foreign national and a bystander were wounded when the suicide bomber hit the foreign armored vehicles along a main road in Shah Shahid locality, southeastern Kabul Tuesday morning," Kabul police Chief General Abdul Rahman Rahimi told reporters near the site.

The attacker was killed right on the spot, he said.

The targeted Toyota SUV vehicles belonged to the NATO-led Resolute Support (RS) mission carrying foreign military advisors to the Afghan Defense Ministry, according to unofficial sources.

The explosion, which occurred at around 11:30 a.m. local time, damaged several houses and running vehicles around the site.

No group has claimed responsibility yet for the attack, but the Taliban insurgent group routinely claims responsibility for such attacks.

The Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since April 24 when the militant group launched its so-called annual spring offensive in different places of the militancy-plagued country. The attacks had claimed hundreds of lives including militants, security personnel and civilians.

On June 30, two civilians were killed and nearly 30 people, including two U.S. service members of RS mission, were wounded after a Taliban suicide car bomb hit a military convoy near the Kabul airport.

The U.S. and NATO-led troops have switched from combat to support role, which focuses on training, advising and assisting Afghan forces since Jan. 1.

Nearly 13,000 foreign forces are now stationed in the country and being involved in the RS mission.
