The Meadows
Dubai - Arab Today

Two farmers have been accused of decapitating a co-worker with axes in revenge killing after his brother allegedly murdered the brother of one of the assailants following a land dispute in their homeland.

The families of one of the farmers and the co-worker were said to have been in a land dispute in Pakistan and that resulted in the co-worker’s brother killing the farmer’s brother.

Blinded by revenge, according to records, the 33-year-old Pakistani farmer, whose brother was killed in Pakistan, talked his 32-year-old countryman farmer to help him get rid of the co-worker. For that purpose, the two farmers armed themselves with axes, blocked the way of the co-worker who was riding his bicycle in The Meadows, and repeatedly assaulted him with the axes until he died in December.

A European resident was the first person to spot the victim’s partly decapitated body and notified the police.

On-site investigation exposed that the deceased had been revengefully attacked and murdered since he was mostly hit on his head and neck.

Preliminary police investigation revealed that the two farmers had fled to Al Ain and were retrying to leave the UAE towards Oman.

The duo’s attempt to cross the border was foiled and they were apprehended and handed over to Dubai Police.

Prosecutors accused the suspects of premeditatedly killing the victim by attacking him with two axes.

Dubai Police’s forensic examiner said a huge chunk of the victim’s head was almost completely detached from the body.

When the suspects appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Thursday, they pleaded not guilty.

According to the accusation sheet, prosecutors said the suspects had plotted the murder that was committed in revenge after the victim’s brother had killed the 33-year-old farmer’s brother in Pakistan.

A police sergeant claimed to prosecutors that the victim’s close pool friends informed the police about the land dispute before it was established that the murder had taken place out of revenge.

“Primary interrogations revealed that the suspects had killed the victim and headed to Ajman … where a friend refused to house them but gave them Dh3,000 and asked them to stay away from him. The two suspects were later apprehended when they tried to leave the UAE through Al Ain. During questioning, the 33-year-old claimed that after the killing of his brother over the land dispute, he repeatedly warned the victim to stay out of his way. According to his statement, the suspect alleged that the deceased constantly disregarded him and mocked him before common friends … until he convinced his friend [the 32-year-old suspect] to kill him. For that purpose, the 33-year-old suspect claimed that the armed themselves with axes and when they spotted the victim on his bicycle, they blocked his way, pulled him down and attacked him on his head and neck,” the sergeant testified to prosecutors.
