Two people, a sailor and a civilian suspect, were confirmed dead following a shooting at Naval Station Norfolk in the U.S. State of Virginia Monday night, the station's officials said in a statement Tuesday. Security forces killed the suspect, the statement said, adding that the naval station was briefly put on lockdown for 45 minutes after the incident as a precaution. The shooting occurred at approximately 11:20 p.m. at Pier 1 aboard USS Mahan, the statement said, adding that no other injuries have been reported. Except Pier 1, operations have returned to normal at Naval Station Norfolk, it said. Details surrounding the shooting are under investigation, and the navy will release the names of the two killed, both male, once their families are notified.
