Aswan - XINHUA

Two Argentinian tourists and an Egyptian driver were killed Friday in a car crash on a highway in Upper Egypt's governorate of Aswan, around 700 km south of the capital Cairo, a Xinhua correspondent in Upper Egypt reported."Other two Argentinian tourists were injured in the crash between a tourist car and a truck at the 150 km point on the Aswan- Abu Simbel highway," the correspondent said. The three dead bodies and the two injured were taken to Aswan University Hospital, a police report said, adding that the prosecution arrived at the hospital to investigate the accident.Road accidents are common in Egypt in a way that started to scare off Egyptians and foreign visitors alike. Also on Friday, three Egyptians were killed and several others were injured when two trucks collided on Cairo-Alexandria highway, according to official news agency MENA.One of the trucks were loaded with diesel while the other carried a number of workers, MENA reported, noting the two cars were ablaze. On March 2, also in Aswan and on the same highway, a mini-bus overturned killing one Chinese tourist and leaving other three Chinese nationals injured. The accident came a few days after nine tourists from China's Hong Kong were killed in a hot balloon explosion in Egypt's southern province of Luxor on Tuesday, which in all claimed 19 lives and injured two.On March 15, six passengers were killed and five others rescued after a microbus overturned into a canal in Upper Egypt's governorate of Sohag, some 400 km south of the capital Cairo. On the same day, other six were killed and eight injured in a car crash on Ismailia-Zagazig desert highway north of Cairo.According to the transportation ministry, road accidents kill around 10,000 people every year in Egypt. Lack of security monitoring systems, improper road maintenance and irresponsible behaviors are behind the high rate of road accidents
