
At least 2 Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were martyred and 13 others are missing following an attack by Taliban militants in Herat province.
According to local security officials, Taliban militants launched an attack on a security check post in Rabat-e-Sangi district late Sunday, Khaama News Agency reported on Monday.
A spokesman for 207 Zafar Military Corps, Najibullah Jajeebi confirmed the report and said the incident took place in Chehl Dukhtar area of Rabat-e-Sangi district.
In the meantime, unconfirmed reports suggest that the 13 soldiers have joined Taliban group and have taken with them the weapons and ammunition.
Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the incident so far.
Herat is among the relatively volatile provinces where anti-government armed militant groups are active in a number of its remote districts and often carry out insurgency activities.
