FIFA President, Blatter
London - Arabstoday

FIFA President, Blatter London - Arabstoday FIFA President Sepp Blatter called it “a black day for football” after clashes between fans of clubs Al-Ahly and Al-Masry resulted in the worst football violence since 78 were killed in a stampede at a 1996 World Cup qualifier between Guatemala and Costa Rica. "I am very shocked and saddened to learn this evening that a large number of football supporters have died or been injured following a match in Port Said, Egypt," Blatter said on a statement published on the FIFA's website. "My thoughts are with the families of those who have lost their lives this evening. "This is a black day for football. Such a catastrophic situation is unimaginable and should not happen." More than 70 fans were dead and hundreds wounded after thousands of Masry fans invaded the pitch following the team’s 3-1 Egyptian Premier League victory over Ahly.
