Amman - XINHUA
Jordan's Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said Monday the kingdom is ready for a possible chemical war that may come from neighboring Syria. During a press conference on Monday, Ensour said there is still possibility for a chemical war in Syria that might spill over into Jordan. He added that Jordan asked the United States for manned surveillance aircraft to help the country prevent the Syrian conflict spiralling across the border and protect the Zaatari refugee camp, which is home to more than 165,000 Syrians. Last week, Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Jordan is interested in what the U.S. could do to help it secure its long border with Syria. The kingdom demanded the provision of manned "intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance" aircraft among other items, according to Dempsey.
