New regulations on work permits expected by end of 2014

Work permit regulations are expected to be approved by end of the year, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and Minister of State for Planning and Development Hind Al-Sabeeh said on Sunday.
Opening the new building of the Labor Department in Farwaniya Governorate, Al-Sabeeh added that the Ministry is carrying on with examination of public benefit societies, noting that the process would take and violator institutions will be closed down, in line with the law.
Meanwhile, the Minister said, a higher committee is reviewing the complaints against the cooperative sector to maintain the rights of shareholders and members of board of directors. Serious breaches will be referred to the prosecution.
Referring to the newly-opened department, Al-Sabeeh said it aims at completing procedures for employers and their representatives in a matter of minutes.
