Cairo - Arab Today

Transport Minister Hani Dahi stressed on Wednesday that expanding the Suez Canal waterway will turn the area into an economic and industrial hub.

"We should not rush the economic benefits of the new Canal because expanding the waterway does not mean that revenues will be doubled the next day but it means that national income will be upped as of the next year," said Dahi, in statements to El Nile news channel.

He added that a package of giant development projects will be launched in parallel with the Canal project.
