Beijing is keen on supporting development projects in Egypt, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday.

During a meeting with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, the Chinese president stressed importance of the strategic relations linking the two countries.

Xi said China is keen on reviving the Silk Road, highlighting the importance of boosting common interests of the two countries.

He hailed efforts exerted by Ismail who chaired the committee assigned to coordinate recently signed agreements by the two sides.

Ismail said a number of agreements would be signed by the two sides in various fields including energy, housing and transportation.
