Cairo - Shaimaa Mekkawi

Egyptian TV presenter, Moataz al-Demerdash stated in an interview with Arab Today that Egypt is facing an "unprecedented crisis," adding that even the days of the January 25 2011 revolution were "not that bad." The Egyptian media figure pointed out that there is a lot of major problems facing Egyptians, including oil, water and economic. “They are countless,” he expressed. Al-Demerdash hopes the June 30 protest will pass "peacefully" without any more people being killed. “We have lost a lot of people during the past two years in different clashes,” he added. Regarding the Tamarod movement, al-Demerdash said: “It’s normal to refuse the current situation and protest against it, it’s our right.” “Lately spokesperson for Muslim Brotherhood, Freedom and Justice Part (FJP) has criticised the Egyptian media, accusing it of not mentioning President Morsi’s achievements. I replied on my show saying that this is not our role. We talk about ongoing events and ways to solve it,” he continued. Al-Demerdash said that it is hard to predict what will happen on June 30, but hopes it will pass peacefully, calling all parties to avoid violence. Moataz Al-Demerdash is the Egyptian host of Misr AlGadida on El Hayat 2 satellite TV channel. He was formerly the host for Teseen Dakeeka on El Mehwar satellite TV channel.
