The biggest threat to the lives of the people of Westeros may no longer be Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin, but Game of Thrones co-creators and show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
Martin told ShowBiz411 that Benioff and Weiss are "even bloodier" than he is when it comes to fatally dispatching characters on their HBO adaptation of Martin's books. The pair even plan to kill off characters who survive in the source material in Season 5.
"People are going to die who don't die in the books, so even the book readers will be unhappy," Martin said when asked about the upcoming fifth season of Game of Thrones at the Writers Guild West Awards.
"So everybody better be on their toes. David and D.B. are even bloodier than I am."
This isn't the first time Martin has alluded to Game of Throne's higher body count than his books. In May 2014, Martin told Conan O'Brien that four characters already killed on the show remain alive in the books.
