Yemen's main political parties managed Saturday to hammer out an agreement to end the fluid military and security situations in the country in the wake of serious turmoil.
The agreement, signed in the presence of the Special Adviser to the UN Secretary General on Yemen Jamal Benomar, is an appendage to the comprehensive agreement on peace and national partnership struck last Sunday.
Speaking to reporters following his successful mediation in the deal, Benomar said the appendage will help stabilize the security and military situations in such governorates as Sanaa, Imran, Al-Jawf and Maarib.
"It's a national, viable and integrated document that lays firm foundation for the implementation of the comprehensive agreement.
"It charts a roadmap for ending the current political, security and economic crises, and advancing the political process based on the outcomes of the national dialogue," he said.
Benomar urged all signatories to start implementing all provisions of the deal immediately and strictly in order to bring the country out of the current turmoil.
The Houthi Ansar Allah (Supporters of God) militia which took control of several government, military and security institutions, including the state TV building in Sanaa last Saturday, signed the deal yesterday, said presidential spokesman Dr. Ahmad Awadh Bin Mubarak.
The Nasserist Unionist People's Organisation and other political forces signed the deal on security arrangements and the comprehensive agreement today, he added.
