The NGO coalition the Egyptian Alliance to Monitor Elections issued a report on documented violations at polling stations on the first day of Egypt's presidential election. According to the alliance the main violation recorded was prevention of representatives of the candidates' campaigns from being allowed access to polling stations. NGO observers were also reportedly barred access at some polling stations, Ahram Online reported Monday. The alliance also noted incidents of campaigning directly outside polling stations, which is forbidden by Egyptian law. The alliance is made up of 128 local NGOs, including the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights, the Egyptian Centre for Women's Rights, and Andulus NGO. This election is also being monitored by a number of international delegations, including a team from the EU, the AU, the Arab League, and the Arab Parliament.
