UAE
Abu dhabi - Arab Today

It turned out to be one of those rare, happy and historic moments when Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with Members of the Federal Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates, met at the Union House on Friday.

"It was a historic moment because it was in this very same hall that the UAE’s founding fathers gathered 45 years ago to renew their pledge to the country’s people to continue working to further cement the union of the UAE," Gulf Today said in a commentary today.

What a fantastic vision turned true as the UAE during the subsequent years followed the footsteps of its founding fathers and scripted an unparalleled success story, ensuring progress on all fronts.

From humble beginnings, the UAE has reached a stage where it is seen as an outstanding model to pick a leaf from.

So much so that according to the Global Competitiveness Report 2016 issued by the World Economic Forum (Davos) in Switzerland, the UAE has been ranked first regionally and 16th globally, maintaining its lead among the top 20 competitive economies in the world.

Not to forget that it has retained its lead in the region in not less than 100 development indicators.

It’s a nation that cherishes its heritage. The Etihad Museum, inaugurated by Their Highnesses, will surely inspire Emiratis and international visitors alike with the story of the founding of the nation.

The museum, as Sheikh Mohammed points out, represents a national achievement for the UAE; it is a proud monument and a testament to the nation’s story.

As the museum will present experience-driven exhibitions, interactive programmes and education initiatives that explore the chronology of events that culminated in the formation of the Union of the Emirates in 1971, visiting it will prove to be a valuable experience for the youth to learn from history.

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s words serve to boost the confidence of every Emirati and expatriate that the future will be bright.

As he mentioned, "We are optimistic about a promising future which we all are heralding confidently with a holistic national vision; a future that is based on science, diligent work and knowledge, and which we immunise with love, loyalty, values and ethics."
