
The UAE is participating in the 18th session of the Joint Commission for Environment and Development in the Arab world, which began on Sunday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States at the level of senior officials.
The meeting discussed preparation of draft agenda of the 28th session of The Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment, scheduled next Thursday.
The UAE is represented by Eng. Hussain Khansaheb, Director of Green Development Department at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and Fatima Al Hammadi, environmental researcher at air quality management at the ministry.
Eng. Khansaheb said the three- day long meeting will address a number of environment and development issues, which will be submitted to the Arab Environment Ministers' meeting and their executive office.
He noted that the most important items, include following up the implementation of resolutions of the development, economic and social summits regarding the environment, as well as the implementation of resolutions of the World Summit on Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Initiative in the Arab region.
