
Dr. Obaid Al Hiri Salem Al Ketbi, the UAE Non-resident Ambassador to Solomon Islands, met Manasseh Sogavare, Prime Minister of Solomon Islands, to discuss the course of bilateral ties, following the agreement signed in 2010 between the two countries to establish diplomatic ties.
The two sides emphasised the importance of strengthening bilateral ties in various fields and sought greater co-operation in areas such as climate change, investment and tourism.
Prime Minister Sogavare expressed his government's sincere desire to build stronger ties with the UAE.
He also lauded the role played by the UAE in the international landscape, notably in renewable energy and climate change.
He thanked the government and the people of the UAE for the humanitarian and developmental assistance extended to Solomon Islands’ people under the UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund, UAE-PPF.
