Ways of expanding economic relations and co-operation in tourism, agriculture, construction and investment, and increasing trade between the UAE and Serbia were at the centre of talks held on Monday by officials from the two countries in the UAE capital.
Under-Secretary for Foreign Trade and Industry at the UAE Ministry of Economy, Abdullah Al Saleh, and President of the Government of the Serbian province of Vojvodina, Igor Mirovic, underlined the importance of encouraging the private sector and the business community in both countries to promote co-operation and launch joint projects capitalising on the potential of both countries.
Al Saleh underlined the UAE's favourable investment environment and attractive legislation, and noted that direct flights between the two countries help expand trade and tourism between the two countries.
He noted that the share of oil in the UAE's GDP fell to below 30 per cent with industries and manufacturing becoming of the country's vital sectors.
Al Saleh further said the UAE government is working on promoting innovation in seven major sectors: renewable energy, transportation, healthcare, education, technology, water resources and the space industry.
