Tunis - TAP

The meeting of the Crisis Response Unit chaired, Saturday, by Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa, looked at the situation on the Tunisian-Libyan borders and the security precautions to prevent terrorist threats and dangers.
According to a news release issued by the Crisis Response Unit, the PM decided during the meeting to reinforce the presence of the National Army in the buffer zone, which was created by a Republican decree in the South of Tunisia. Access to this zone which is under a reinforced military and security control, is only by prior authorisation, the news release reads.
Besides, Jomaa decided to mobilise the necessary human and material means to secure the coastal border line and increase control and surveillance to thwart any infiltration attempt.
The news release points out that the Premier also decided to set up a joint authority to devise an "immediate and direct" intervention plan and face the terrorist acts and a joint special unit including National Army and security force units operating 24 hours a day to intervene immediately in case of terrorist threats.
"Jomaa also called for reinforcing the military and security efforts on all fronts to guarantee the country's security," the news release specifies.
The Crisis Response Unit hailed the efforts made by the National Army, security forces and customs authorities to preserve the country's security and integrity."
The meeting was attended by the Interior, National Defense, Foreign Affairs, Justice, Transport, Social Affairs, Health Ministers and the Minister Delegate to the Interior Minister in charge of Security.
