Tunis - Xinhua

Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki has stressed the need to secure the country's border posts, the state-run TAP press agency reported on Friday. During a cabinet meeting on Thursday, Marzouki stressed the need for coordination between security forces and the army to secure the borders. The president's call came one day after a clash between the government forces and an armed group near the city of Sfax, some 350 km from the Tunisian capital, where two armed assailants were killed and another was captured, while five army and security officers were injured, TAP said. Marzouki said he would discuss with some neighboring countries on their coordination during his forthcoming visits to Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania. The president also voiced his confidence that "Tunisian security forces and its army have the capacity to enforce the country's security and preserve its stability."
