The Tunisian Defense Ministry has announced a state of alertness in anticipation of any possible terrorist acts during the upcoming legislative election, slated for Sunday, Sky News reported.
All elements of the armed forces are ready to secure the polls, said the spokesman for the Tunisian Defense Ministry.
The armed forces were deployed on borders areas to confront any terrorist act, the spokesman said.
Tunisia will hold its parliamentary election on October 26 during which approximately 5.2 million eligible voters will cast votes to elect their representatives for the 217-member National Assembly.
The parliamentary polls will be followed by a presidential election on November 23.
