Druze Sheikh Akl, Naim Hassan, received on Thursday the US Ambassador to Lebanon, Elizabeth Richard, and discussed with her the latest developments.
During the meeting, Hassan stressed the importance of strengthening Lebanon's internal unity, stability and civil peace by "paying attention to the nature of its political composition based on diversity and pluralism, respecting all national components, and conducting parliamentary elections on time."
"I hope that the United States will continue to support the Army, the security forces, the Lebanese government and constitutional institutions so as to serve all segments of the Lebanese people," he said, urging Washington to "take a real active role at the level of regional issues, where conflicts are growing here and there," stressing "the need to support the Palestinian people and its cause and rights and stop all forms of Israeli aggression
