
The Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad issued a decree asking the incumbent Dr. Wael al-Halqi to form a new government.
According to the state news agency (SANA), Al-Halqi was born in Daraa in 1964.
He holds a university degree in Medicine (Damascus University, 1987) and a master's degree in Gynecology and Obstetrics (1991).
He served as Director of Primary Health Care Department in Jassem city in Daraa (1997-2000), Chief of Doctors Syndicate (2010) and Minister of Health (2011).
He was appointed Prime Minister on August 9, 2012.
