The speaker of the People's Council of Syria (Parliament), Mohammad Jihad al-Laham, arrived in Algiers Monday morning, said he came in Algeria to "step up cooperation, coordination and consultation between the two countries in various fields."
Al-Laham, following an audience granted to him by the speaker of the People's National Assembly (lower house of Parliament), Mohamed Larbi Ould Khelifa, told reporters his visit to Algeria was aimed at strengthening "cooperation, coordination and consultation between the two countries in various fields, at the interest of the Arab world."
Expressing "pride" in the "historical" relations between Syria and Algeria, al-Laham said those ties "lay on moral bases, far from any foreign injunction aiming at wearing down resistance in Syria" and "the historical renewed struggle."
