Syrian displaced families in Lebanon suffer food insecurity

About 74 percent of the Syrian displaced families suffer a certain amount of food insecurity, the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in Lebanon said Saturday.
In a report entitled "Evaluation of vulnerability of Syrians displaced in Lebanon" published by the commission, the UNHCR said one of the main sources of livelihood for the family members of displaced Syrians is food vouchers, which make up 41 percent of the resources.
The report said about 70 percent of families registered with the UNHCR receive food vouchers on a regular basis, and about 41 percent receive household kits, while about 25 percent benefit from regular health care.
It added that 40 percent of the families are with seven or more members and 65 percent include children under five years old.
The number of displaced Syrians in Lebanon has exceeded 1.1 million, and is expected to reach 1.5 million by the end of this year, the UNHCR's latest report said.
